For some reason, the gnarled, ancient trees of this world have always been at the top of my list of things to study and photograph. Perhaps it is the years and the ages of knowledge they store up inside. Perhaps it is the beautiful color and life that always return to their branches. Either way, they are some of my favorite subjects to photograph. These images range from the Old Growth Forests of British Columbia to the Sierra Nevadas in California to the Teton National Park in Wyoming to the hardwoods of the Great Smoky Mountains, . -JH
